Air is arguably the best resource on Earth to store or release kinetic energy for the following reasons:
Air does not need to be mined, drilled, manufactured, processed or transported. Air is omnipresent and abundant for all, so there is no reason to argue over its possession. However, the best and most important property of air is that it can absorb or release vast amounts of mechanical energy (potential energy) countless times without tiring itself out, changing its composition, or losing its quality.
